Barbara Markov, Assistant DirectorBarbara is a graduate of Marietta College, having majored in English and Secondary Education. In addition to her responsibilities to the Ravenna Community Choir she has been Music Minister of Wayland Community Church, Church Choir, Adult and Youth Choir director since 1983 and organist since 2003. She has sung Messiah in several choruses, and performed in the Kent State University Chorus for several years, included multiple performances at Severance Hall in Cleveland. She is a charter member since 1990 of the Deerfield Community Chorus, and has been a member of RCC since 1995. She succeeded the late Norma Batsch as Assistant Director in 2005. She and husband Milan are very proud of their 3 grown sons Scott, James and Jeff. Rick DeMattia, AccompanistRick is a graduate of the Kent State University, graduating with a Bachelor of General Studies degree in the Honors College. He began his piano studies at an early age with his mother Catherine. His subsequent teachers were Kay McKay, Arthur Reginald, and, at Kent State University, Frederic Schoettler and Jerry Davidson. While in high school, Rick served as rehearsal accompanist for classes at the Dance Institute of the University of Akron. At KSU Rick also studied harpsichord with Ruth Nurmi, and provided piano accompaniment to student recitals and auditions. In addition to his responsibilities to the Ravenna Community Choir he has been organist and choir director at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Macedonia since 1999. In 2010 he had the opportunity to play in the Stow Symphony Orchestra, and served as accompanist for the Stow Symphony Chorus' Messiah rehearsals. He has enjoyed chamber music reading sessions with friends. He and wife Mara live in Kent with their three marvelous daughters. |
